Working with David Wetherow and the Star Raft concept…

David Wetherow has been one of my heroes for a long time, and when my facilitation partner Shelley Nessman and I got a chance to work with him we were delighted.   David and Faye are important elders in the Community Living movement in B.C. and in North America who have contributed hugely…  his new ideas are so exciting that after a period of absence he’s been compelled to come out and “play in the sandbox.”   We started with a planning session with the Family Support Institute (you can see the videos here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sIrkP_B7h8 and here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sIrkP_B7h8). 2012 in review – fun with my new graphic facilitation (mostly) blog :)

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: 600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 3,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 5 years to get that many views. Click here to see the complete report. the vulnerabilities booklet… sssshhhh…

So I’m not quite sure if I should be sharing any of these drawings yet but here’s a taster of a drawing I like, which might make it into the booklet, which Susan Stanfield, Shelley Nessman, Jim Reynolds and I are facilitating the groups of self advocates to give input into. This is for the third in a series of booklets for C.L.B.C., which has this great idea of incorporating ideas and feedback from self advocates to create materials they can use.   (We had nothing to do with the first one, which was just turned into a lovely little film … Continue reading the vulnerabilities booklet… sssshhhh…

Citizen Kane #graphicfacilitation

I’m just back from Chicago where I was part of the inaugural Brandy-Lab.   I’ve become increasingly interested in graphic facilitation and then discovered the work of Brandy Agerbeck, and her excellent book and amazing website, and then got word that she was going to do a rather rare intensive teaching gig.   It was a hold-your-breath kind of moment as I tried to figure out if I could afford it, if I wanted to go to Chicago for several days in August, on my own time while finishing up a graduate course and working on a new anthology for Spectrum … Continue reading Citizen Kane #graphicfacilitation
