#clmooc Remediation Make Cycle 2

I’ve been really fascinated by what’s coming across my social media feeds as educators of all kinds have tackled the idea of “reMEDIAtion” over the last week in the #clmooc group.  As my avocation is special education for adults, I … Continue reading #clmooc Remediation Make Cycle 2

Can You Dig It graphics

Always a great pleasure to work with a group that I’ve admired – the Can You Dig It gardeners – bringing together all my passions for art, social justice, inclusion and gardening!  From a visioning session facilitated by James Pratt, these graphics were used in the planning report that came out of a great day.                   Continue reading Can You Dig It graphics

Video by Hayley Glossop of Rainbow Notations.  You can check out more posts about this project on our project blog.   The Community Mapping sessions were sponsored by an award from the BC Ideas folks, in Community Living Innovation.   In this project Shelley Nessman and I are going to three communities to ask  self advocates with intellectual disabilities: where do you make a contribution?  where would you be missed?  where are you welcomed in the ways you want to be?  After a day together, and a lot of drawing and talking, we clean up the room and they host … Continue reading fun video of our Victoria community mapping session and some time-lapse graphic facilitation

New Charts – Victoria sessions

I did two days of charting in Victoria – the first day was full of self advocate presentations, games, and a wonderful panel on employment.   The second day was part of our Inclusive Research Community Mapping projects, funded by a grant from B.C. Ideas, in which, working with a self advocate co-host, my facilitation partner, Shelley Nessman, engages people with intellectual disabilities in a discussion about where they contribute, where they are welcomed and what roles they play in their communities.   We were wonderfully hosted by the Self Advocates for a Brighter Future, who were supported by Becon … Continue reading New Charts – Victoria sessions

Community Mapping Project Planning Graphic

I really like how graphic facilitation lends itself to project planning…  this cleaned up beautifully by the wonderful Hayley @ rainbownotation@hotmail.com  This is a project I am doing with some friends in which we’ll go “map” three communities to find out where people with disabilities feel they are valued and welcomed, and make a contribution that would be missed if they weren’t there.  Funded through the B.C. Ideas / Community Inclusion Fund. Continue reading Community Mapping Project Planning Graphic
